getting ‘Lost’

One of the things I wanted to do in Hawaii was check out the set of ‘Lost’ since it’s filmed there, and the series is ending soon. (Did you guys know that we have a weekly ‘Lost’ gathering at our house? Oh yeah. We’re big fans. And there’s going to be a ‘Lost’ finale party next month – and it’s going to be one of the best themed parties we’ve ever hosted.)

Anyway. Back to Hawaii. The Monday we were in Oahu, we traveled up to the North Shore, in hopes we’d see something. I have a crazy fascination with sets. Not even the celebrities, though I love them too. Every day, I ran through the boat harbor that is actually Sydney in the show. We passed by a few places that were used for filming, and while I wanted to get to the YMCA camp where the “Others” lived, it’s a little out of the way and they aren’t fans of people sneaking up there for pictures. Oh, and the “golf course” in the show is off limits, as it’s on private property and we weren’t shelling out the money to head up there.

We did, however, make it to the beach and found a lot of props for the show. We were also asked to stop at one point because they were filming. What was funny was the guy who stopped us, cut us off. He drove on the road beside the beach, jumped out of his truck and told us “Some people are filming this show called ‘Lost’ which is on ABC and you’ll be in the shot if you go around that bend.” He was nice about it, so we played dumb (as if we had never heard of the show) and didn’t go any further.
