girlfriend’s got curtains!
Finally. We have curtains in our living room! We managed to pick up some cheap blockout curtains and I’ve never felt so relieved. They’re plain, boring, dark brown tab-top panels. Short (because of the heat vents underneath one of the windows) and the decorative rods were a PAIN to hang, but I got everything hung. Kenny figured out one thing with them and the second window was pretty easy (until the screws wouldn’t go in any further, and I had to move the attachment further right.) One window is slightly off center, but really. Who cares? (If you happen to see them in person and comment on their off-centeredness, I promise have to hurt you. Just a little bit.) Kidding….
But seriously. Earlier today I was at Lowe’s (the one near our house) and I was debating between 63″ or 84″ curtains. I went to grab the 4 panels that remained in the 63″ spot, when a woman reached in front of me and grabbed two.
I needed 4, and almost smacked her. Talked to one of the employee’s and it turned out that the other Lowe’s had what I needed. We headed over there after a birthday gathering this evening, grabbed the last four panels and two curtain rods, and got out of there after spending less than $60. Unheard of.
I settled for a plain curtains until I can learn how to sew. Then I’ll make what I have in my head 🙂
Next room? The kitchen. I bought the tool to start tearing down the wallpaper. I can’t wait to use it!
We NEED new curtains, ours are starting to fade, and I thought it was because we didn’t have blinds in the windows, but Noooo, even blinds can’t protect your curtains (we do have blinds in our bedroom). Hopefully we’ll get enough back in taxes to buy new curtains, guess that’s what we get for going to Wally World for curtains? Not sure.
I recommend Lowe’s. Out of all of the stores I searched (online too!) they had the best selection. I could also go super-cheap and get something decent. Once I get the million pieces of clothing out of the living room, I might even post pictures of the room! But that’s for another post….
