Green Sprouts glass sip ‘n straw cup review + giveaway
Note: The following is a review in connection with i play. I did receive a cup for my son to try, but I haven’t been compensated for this review, and as usual, all opinions are my own.
Our boy is still in the sippy cup phase. We’ve tried several cups and I thought I found a brand I loved, but then I had a hard time keeping mold from growing (and removing it successfully.) I’ve thrown away so many cups because of this issue, and because the quality just wasn’t up to par. My son would chew through the straws or toss the cup enough that it began leaking.
I love i play. (I’ve loved them since I was pregnant and they’ve been a favorite company of mine for the past couple of years.) I was pretty excited to get the chance to try the Green Sprouts Glass Sip ‘n Straw Cup this month. At first, all I could think of was giving my toddler a glass cup to toss around seemed a little dangerous. Then I received the cup and it’s so durable! The glass is actually inside a plastic layer. Better yet, it doesn’t have so many pieces that cause me to lose my mind when washing them at night! There aren’t so many crevices that mold can grow. It blows my mind that other companies can design cups that are impossible to keep and use long term.
This cup comes with the travel disc so it won’t leak if your child isn’t drinking from it right away, and two different tops – one for a sippy cup and one that is a straw. My boy loves straws, so this was great for him. The only downside was he quickly figured out he could stick his finger down the straw (but that is in no way the fault of anyone other than my two-year-old.)
When I poured my boy’s milk into this cup, I actually turned it upside down and shook it to see if there were any leaks – there were none. (I tend to do this with all of his cups since I know he has a tendency to drop everything.) The cup has a rubber base that also helps protect it if/when it’s dropped.
And now the fun part of this review…the chance to give away a Glass Sip ‘n Straw Cup to one lucky reader! Leave a comment about your favorite iPlay/Green Sprouts item and “like” iPlay on Facebook! All entries are optional in the widget. Easy peasey!
The giveaway will last a little longer than a week and a winner will be announced next Friday, April 25. The folks at iPlay will mail the cup to the winner.
Did you have a favorite brand sippy cup for your child? What did you find most maddening about cups you’ve tried?
You know, I actually miss the sippy cup phase. I had a lot less spills back then lol š
This looks like a great sippy cup. I know how icky they can get after a while. I’ve had to throw some away before.
I’ve never heard of or had any of this line of products, but I LOVE that the glass is inside the cup. That is radical!
My daughter doesn’t drink out of sippy cups anymore but I remember the days in which she did! I think we had a total of 15 floating all over the house. Some were used for drinking and others were just lost in a pile of toys!
Wow, I have never seen a glass sippy cup where the glass is inside a layer of plastic. You would think it would be dangerous, but looking at it, it just seems brilliant.
What a genius product. So great for kids and health conscious moms – Tracey @ Just a Trace
Looks like a great sippy! Finding a good one is so helpful!
Aww this is a cute little cup. I haven’t had sippy cups around for some time but this brings back some memories!
We have the exact same problems with sippy cups, but my toddler son still needs them or he spills. I’ll definitely check them out.
Oh my, he looks so cute sipping that straw! I have never used these cups, but I would love to try one for Case. We are definitely still in sippy cup phase. He wants to use a big boy cup like Brooks, but that usually turns into a complete disaster, as you can imagine.
I don’t think I’ve ever used iPlay or Green Sprouts products but they look awesome! I love the second photo!
Finding a good sippy cup was a challenge when my kids were small. Now I wish we had them, there would be less spills in our house!
I remember when little man used sippy cups! Awwww, gosh…I miss those days! What I don’t miss though is the yucky mold you mentioned. It’s hard to find the right cups, that are easy to clean and that are user friendly for the little ones. My niece has a baby that’s getting ready to transition from bottle to sippy. I’ll have to mention this brand to her!
That is a cute sippy cup. Sometimes I think my kids still need sippy cups. Lol
When my son was younger, I loved the cups with the straws. So convenient!
My toddler would love this sip ‘n straw cup. I entered and we are keeping our fingers and toes crossed! LOL
I’d love to win this for my kiddo. I Actually have never tried their products before!
Can I use sippys forever? Like until they leave my house?
you know what? I actua;;y LOVE that this is made with glass. So much more healthier!
I also prefer the straw cups, we used them regularly when my daughter was learning to drink out of sippy cups.
I love the glass! It looks like a great cup, I’m always looking for new ones for my girls.
No fuss, no mess. Where were these when my kids were spilling all over?
I like the handles on both sides of that! Definitely makes it a lot easier to hold on to, for sure.
I remember the days of the sippy cup. I miss them being so little. I’ll keep this in mind for grandchildren.
That is a really cute cup. I especially love the cute little character on the front.
I could use this right now my 2 yr old needs a new cup!
It’s been so long since mine used sippy cups. But, I would have loved something like this when they did.
I love the green sprouts non slip tub mat! It fits perfectly into the tub I have and keeps my daughter from slipping when she stands up.
we used glass bottles. i felt so much safer with them than plastic
Haven’t, but would love to try.
We’re moving out of the sippy age now. I think I’m going to miss it. It was great to know there wound’t be any spills in the car.
I love iplay’s upf sun protection hat and their upf clothing for the beach š this sippy cup looks like it can be a game changer in the market for parents seeking a safer alternative to plastics. I’d love to start my son on this sippy š
