half marathon? bring it.
I’m running the Asheville Half Marathon in a few weeks. September 12 to be exact. In my mind, I’ve been training for it for a few weeks. Not really hard training, but I’ve been running a few longer distances to help get ready to run 13.1 in September.
Earlier this week I talked to a friend Melissa who has been running and is training for the same race. She doesn’t have a Saturday morning group and I invited her to head out with my group today. Little did I know it would be just the two of us (the regular group was starting a little late, and we have 4 extra miles to run.)
We trekked through north Asheville for 10 miles and it was pretty challenging! I freaking LOVE the Garmin! There’s no question as to where I need to turn around, and the pacing features is awesome. We started out at under 9-minute miles. Too fast for me. We finished between 10 and 11 minute miles, right where I want to be for training.
The Asheville Half is changing it’s course this year. It’s way more challenging (more hills) and I’ll be driving it this week for a work project. We’re doing a video of the course, so I’ll be sure to post it sometime when it’s ready.
After this morning, I definitely feel prepared for a little half marathon. 🙂 13.1 miles? Bring it.
Edited to add: Yep, someone pointed out that my blog said 10 hours, not 10 miles 🙂 I fixed it.
Ha – me and you and our Garmins! I have a friend who is a marathoner…you guys make me need a nap!! I love Ashville but I like to be in a cabin, show falling, sipping wine with my honey. But YEAY for you!! Seriously – good luck. BRING IT! Hey…are you a P90X girl?
