Happy Independence Day!
Happy Fourth of July! Happy Independence Day!
It’s been a few years since we’ve been home for the Fourth of July (and if you are visiting this post, and you aren’t from the USA, it’s ok. Happy Friday!)
I ran 3.4 miles this morning, marking the first time in years that I didn’t plan on running a July 4th 5k race. I love “Celebration” 5ks, but I just didn’t make running one a priority this year. (Maybe next year I’ll participate in one again.)
I love patriotic holidays. That’s no secret. And today we’re all about the fun. The toddler has been requesting the pool, so we’re hoping to get some swim time in. There will be outside play and grilling out. So much grilling out.
Oh, and watermelon. What is summer without watermelon? (It’s sad, I tell you. A summer without watermelon is a sad summer.)
Are you doing anything special for Independence Day?
I am staying home safe and sound–especially after dark for the entire weekend! It is what I also do–ever since firecrackers were thrown near my car windows!!
We’re planning on going to see the fireworks today. You are so right, what is summer without watermelon. That is so the official fruit of summer.
I agree – what IS summer without watermelon? Congrats on running this morning, too – none for me because we are getting a hurricane š
My mom’s birthday is July 4, so we had a party! š Build-your-own hamburger bar, potato salad, sweet potato fries, fruit (watermelon included, yes!) and her requested German Chocolate cake and ice cream! It was great! And now I’m tired LOL Hope you enjoyed the rest of your day!
We hosted my family for lunch after our town parade & that turns into 4 hours of family chit chat:) then we went to my husband’s side for a big pot luck supper & we were home & crashed way before any 10pm fireworks went off around here. PERFECTION.
