having one of those weeks

I’m having a week where everything that can go wrong is going wrong.

Husband’s car broke down in South Carolina yesterday. I had to scramble to get out of work, drive two hours down there just so I could call AAA myself. Yep. Somehow my husband’s name never made it to the account we paid for just last month.

The car was towed 102 miles. We’re covered for 100 miles. Towing cost us $6.

My precious Yankees lost last night.

Nothing at work seems to be going right for me. I worked from home until about 10 p.m. last night. (Husband was at book club.)

Woke up this morning to no power. Chloe just happened to knock my cell phone to the floor, and when I went to pick it up, I realized the clock was off. I thought she unplugged it, but then I looked around and nothing was working. Luckily we have a hot water heater that’s heated by gas, so we showered and then went to my mom’s so we could make breakfast. (I also was able to dry my hair at my mom’s.) Took husband to meet a friend to head to work at 6:45, headed back to mom’s and her power went out at 7:15.

I got to work early (easy to do when you can’t waste time on the computer or watching tv!) and things were broken. Again.

And then we got the call that the car problems were caused by a broken timing chain, which messed up the engine, and the engine can be rebuilt or replaced, to the tune of $4000-$6000.

So now we’re looking at new cars.

The upside of this week? Towing cost us $6 and I have tickets to see Ingrid Michaelson tonight.

  1. Thanks šŸ™‚ I’m pretty sure Ingrid will help with the week. This is my fourth time seeing her live (and I interviewed her a few weeks ago and she was fabulous!!)

  2. Ouch! I broke my timing belt one time but I got lucky and it didnt tear up the engine. It also helps that I married a mechanic. I’m sorry your week is so lousy. BTW..why are you going to Philadelphia this week?

  3. My timing belt on my Honda broke four years ago and I was in Hickory, our tow bill was not so cheap. Now my Kia is due and I’m hoping I can make it another 5,000 miles before I have to bite the bullet and pay the $400+ to replace it. I hope you have a better week.
