a Hawaiian luau

As promised….pictures from our luau in Hawaii. I can’t believe I’ve been home for over a month. I seriously want to go back. Right this second.

The last night we were in Hawaii, we went to the Paradise Cove luau. There were several to choose from, and my brother had heard good things about this one.

The upside to this particular luau is it was very entertaining. The downside to it was the entertainment. I know it sounds crazy. They had stations set up for you to go to and they’d corral all of the guests from station to station. I would have rather been able to wander around and check out the different activities at my own leisure, but the staff would have none of that. If you paid a lot more money, you got special treatment (like more participation in the activities.) Most of the other luaus offer equal treatment to all – one price and everyone gets the same experience. I’ll keep that in mind for future visits.

When they were doing the hula dancing (before dinner), I wandered off into the grass to shoot my sunset photos – and I was told to get off the grass. There were no signs telling me to keep out, it wasn’t fenced in, but I was still told I was prohibited from going into that area. They had staff taking photos and selling them as you left, so I believe they were upset I wasn’t going to buy one of their pictures. Whatever. I got the shots I wanted.

Now, let the marathon photo session begin.

I think I might have one more Hawaii post…the drinks. And then we can move on from this trip. 🙂

  1. it wasn’t your recommendation – it was recommended by others (including the guide book.) And, hey, at least we got pretty sunset photos out of it.
