hellogoodbye
Earlier this year (much earlier – like January or February), I discovered the band “hellogoodbye”. They were from California, kind of indie but not totally independent. On a label, but not over produced. I tried to go see them when I was in LA, but we couldn’t make it happen. Still, I dug their music. I love running to their music – and just yesterday I went to their site and realized that they know have a full length cd out. I have to get it this weekend.
When I was in Cali, I ended up at the gym with my cousin (hi Jen!) and while running on the treadmill, I watched their new music video which had made it’s way onto MTV2 – MTV2 is like oldschool MTV – all music videos. It rocks. I felt like I knew this really cool secret – I knew about this band.
Tonight, I started my holiday job at the mall (it’s sooo much fun!) and I was walking by Hollister, when I recognized a song coming out of that horrendous box they call a store. It was hellogoodbye.
Secret’s out. Hellogoodbye rocks, and they’ve made it to Hollister. I’m upset about their success. I like it when I know about bands before everyone else (John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, just to name a few.)
I’m more mad that the song is being played in Hollister. I feel so old.
you know i’ve heard of them before.now i am going to have to look them up. thanks jaime.

At least you can be sure that all these obscure bands you like end up being good. If they never made it big, wouldn’t you secretly wonder if you only liked sucky music?
