What I’m listening to: Ed Sheeran, Ingrid Michaelson, Jason Mraz

I go through spurts of new music and it seems that my favorite artists all release albums in the same years/months. So lately I find myself with a lot of new music on preorder.

About two months ago, I bought the new Ingrid Michaelson album, Lights Out. I love the title track, and I was hooked the first time I heard her first single from this album, Girls Chase Boys. (And little known fact, I have interviewed Ingrid for a couple of stories and podcasts in my newspaper days. Personally, I’ve been a fan of her music for years, and the first interview was not the most enjoyable experience for me. I did a second interview and it was totally redeeming for me.)

So. Lights Out. The majority of the album made it to my iPod playlist for my half marathon.

Yesterday, I received the Ed Sheeran album (digitally and in the mail.) I had heard Sing for weeks on the radio (and I kept confusing him with Justin Timberlake until about halfway through the song – every. time.) I’m on my third listen of the album, X. I. love. it. My favorite song at the moment is Bloodstream. I haven’t heard a song yet that I don’t like.

Next month, Jason Mraz has a new album coming out. Yes! I’ve been a fan of his for years, and the album has been preordered. I listened to three of the songs last week and I can’t wait to receive this one.

Did you know that if you preorder albums on Amazon, you will generally receive the digital version the day of, or sometimes the day before, the album’s release? I order 95% of my music from Amazon. I’m still a bit old school and love CDs (even though my car doesn’t even play CDs anymore.)

Several of the links are affiliate links. I’ve not been asked to post about this, and if you happen to purchase one of the mentioned albums (I highly recommend this), then I may receive a small compensation. All opinions are my own. And I hope you love music, in general.

What are you listening to these days?

    1. Then you’re probably already listening to Ed Sheeran and Ingrid Michaelson. 😉 They’ve both gotten a lot of radio play lately!

  1. I need to discover some new music. I’m stuck on what was popular in high school and random songs I hear while out and about and enjoy.

  2. Thanks for sharing! I love the videos. I think Sheeran sounds just like JT too!
I also love ordering through Amazon! It’s so cool to order online and get a new release delivered on the day it comes out (or sometimes a day early)!

  3. I really like that Ingrid Michelson song. My daughter has been listening to her for years, but I didn’t know she had put out a new album.

  4. Gosh, I don’t know much about current music – just what I hear on Sirius Top 20 lists – or what my kids sing! I’m more of a 70s/80s music gal.

  5. I love all of the above. Spotify has been great in helping me find new music to listen to. I like to hear things that don’t get played on radio. I find that music most times to be better because its not so commercial. I just got word that Amazon Prime will now include digital music streaming. I haven’t looked at it yet. Hopefully it will have some good stuff available.

  6. I love to listen to music. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t. You can cater to any mood you’re in just by the music choice you make. I love how listen to some music from my younger days can take me back there. When I am feel blue, I pop in some uplifting sounds and really get into it.

  7. I love all 3 of those artists SO much, and have them all on my playlist too. I also love Melody Gardot, Harry Connick Jr, Michael Buble… too many to name. And of course my Christian artists (Selah, Laura Story, Fernando Ortgega). I love music!

  8. I really like Ed Sheeran and Jason Mraz too! I wasn’t too thrilled with Ed’s new song when I first heard it, but it really has grown on me lately!

  9. I love Jason Mraz. I haven’t heard of the others till now and they are pretty good. I think I am going to have to add them to my play lists and enjoy them!
