Earlier this year – spring 2014 – 25-year-old Anna Todd began sharing her series, After. She would log onto Wattpad, a free social reading and writing app, to share a new installment of her story every couple of days.

I was intrigued when I first read about her. She was just a young wife and huge One Direction fan. I’m also a wife and while I’m not a huge One Direction fan, I am a big Taylor Swift fan…they have a similar fan base, right?

So Anna Todd began releasing a Young Adult Romance Series – right up my alley because I’m all about chick lit. And I consider YA Romance novels chick lit. But what else is cool about this? She wrote this series mostly from her phone – and now it is being turned into a 4-book series. The first book released this past October.

Her story revolves around a couple in which the guy is inspired by Harry Styles. I’m already loving it. A lot of other people are loving it too. Her 2500 page story on Wattpad has been viewed over a billion times and has more than 6 million comments.

This same scenario could happen to you. (The publishing, not just the on-again, off-again relationship.) Or me. Just through the use of Wattpad.

Wattpad allows users to read and share stories from your phone, tablet or computer. More than 40 million people have already joined Wattpad and users have access to more than 60 million stories.

That’s a lot of reading.

If you’re interested in purchasing the first installment of the After series, you can do so from Barnes & Noble or on your E-reader.

You can also connect with Anna Todd on Wattpad, Twitter or Instagram.

I participated in the After by Anna Todd blog program as a member of One2One Network. I received compensation but all opinions are my own.

Do you have a story you’d like to share? Have you tried Wattpad yet?

  1. This is the first I have heard of Wattpad, but it sounds like a great resource for writers AND readers.

  2. My daughter used to love writing on Wattpad. I don’t think she has done it in a while though, but I should encourage her to pick it up again. She has always loved writing short stories and now that she has a phone, it could be something she does on the go too!

  3. Ha ha ha! This is not something I would be in to reading, but I have JUST the person who would be (she is OBSESSED with Harry Styles) so I think i will pass this along to her and she will thank me later, so thank you! šŸ˜‰

  4. I love Wattpad and have used it for writing out ideas. I use a pen name. It really helps when you have a community to help you formulate your ideas.

When you are writing about One Direction – with a billion person fanbase – you are sure to create a hit. And, a buzz.
