I’ve got spirit
This morning I was getting ready for work at the same time as the husband (I fear the day we have kids and have more than ourselves to get out the door.) It’s rare that we are getting ready at the same time, since before this week I had to be at work at 6 and he left at 6:45.
I was mostly ready, but still had my slippers on. They’re hot pink with red hearts (straight from Old Navy 2005 Valentine’s Day clearance rack.) They’re super comfortable and warm, even if they are super tacky. And I need warmth since I’m living in a house without carpet, something I have never experienced on a full-time basis. My mom invested in hardwood floors AFTER my brother and I were forced to move out on our own and be adults.
Anyway. The morning conversation went something like this:
Him: Nice slippers.
Me: I remember in elementary school when we had slipper day during Spirit Week. I wish we had spirit week at my work.
Him: Spirit week isn’t fun.
Me: But I could wear my slippers.
(at this point, we were in different rooms)
Him: You wouldn’t like spirit week.
Me: I’ve got spirit, yes I do….
Him: You’d hate spirit week!
Me: I’ve got spirit, how ’bout you?
(by the way, I hated cheerleaders too.)
Really though, wouldn’t it be great to wear your slippers to work? It would be so much more comfortable. In the summer I might invest in some of those big fluffy flip-flop type slippers š
He was right, too. I hated spirit week. I only loved the slippers day and the day we all wore purple.
I hated spirit week too. That was mainly for the popular kids. I would wear slippers to work (well if I had a job, since I am unemployeed as of today). I would wear big rabbit slippers just to be funny!
I don’t know what’s wrong with you two. I LOVED spirit week…You got to watch a bunch of people dress up and make fools of themselves (you have to admit some were pretty funny) and you got to wear pj’s to school. I carried spirit week onto college, as I often wore pjs to my 8am classes!
April obviously had too much spirit! š
I’m with you April…I loved Spirit Week too…and I was not one of the popular crowd. Given the strict standards of the dress code, it was one of the few times you could be completely wacky and get away with it. And break the dress code within reason. AND I’ve enjoyed helping my son with Spirit Week now that he’s in middle school…..
Now coming to work in slippers…dont think I could get away with it at the massage clinic or the spa but it sure would be fun!
