James Taylor…in Asheville…and me…
What a day! James Taylor came to Asheville today to perform a show in support of Obama, and we got tickets. Lucky for us, too. They were free and ran out quickly!
I love James Taylor and when I heard last week that he was going to be in Asheville, I knew I just HAD to get tickets. The price of tickets didn’t even cross my mind. Lucky for me, they were free.
Kenny and I met Aileen and Ryan around 5:15, to wait in line. And wait, we did. In the cold. Gates opened at 6:30 and although they said the concert would begin at 6:30, we knew it would be later. Once they got through all of the random people speaking, JT came on around 7:30 or so. He finished around 8:15. I got to hear the favorites – Carolina In My Mind, Sweet Baby James, Fire and Rain – while also hearing a couple of songs from his latest covers album. He opened the show with America the Beautiful.
What an absolutely amazing experience!
While we didn’t have the best seats, we were able to see him (he seemed small on the stage, from where we sat) and one of my favorite C-T photographers got great photos. (Note: These are all the work of him, not me.)
Before the show, during soundcheck:
Me and Kenny – it was cold!!
I’d wait in line again to hear him. It really was memorable. He sounds great. You’d never know from hearing him that he’s 60.
So was this a joint 1st anniversary double date?
kind of like that, if we wanted to share a date with 5000 other people š It was fun. We were all way less stressed than we were a year ago!
