last minute shopping
I’m afraid that the rest of our shopping trips from now until the baby arrives are going to be declared “last minute.” Because it seems that whenever we’re out now, we seem to need “just one more thing” for the baby.
We finally got a changing pad – crazy, I know. We got it in the past week. Yesterday I bought sheets for the pack and play, and I looked for a bassinet sheet. (Target only had pink sheets, which wouldn’t do for the baby boy.)
Tonight we ran by Kohl’s to do a few returns (of several outfits that we had three of) and thanks to tax-free weekend and several AMAZING sales, the husband has new pants for work and running shoes. I have some shoes I can wear to work and slippers for the hospital (I just know that my hot pink slippers with red hearts from Old Navy circa 2002 are not going to be acceptable for the birth of my child.) While we were out, we hit up Wal-Mart, and luckily found bassinet sheets in white and not pink. (We also had a Wal-Mart gift card to pick up that tab.)
Oh and if you can believe it, we still have baby shower stuff piled in one of our rooms downstairs, just waiting to be put in proper places.
After all of that, I can still think of a handful of items that I’d like to purchase – there’s a seat cover for my car that would be handy (so the car seat doesn’t damage the interior.) And the breathable bumper is a want, more than a need.
Thankfully, there are more “would like to haves” than “we need this” on our list.
Soon enough, there will be no more last minute shopping, and McLittle will be here. Then we’ll be presented for all new challenges of shopping with a baby. I think we’re almost ready, though. š
You will keep thinking of stuff, so don’t stress. With my twins, K came home 2 days before D. We went thru our entire supply of burp cloths & receiving blankets in those 2 days. First stop after D was released from the NICU? Babies-R-Us for more burp cloths & receiving blankets.
Moral of that story? Don’t sweat the small stuff. It’ll all work out.
A breathable bumper is a “must”, not a need in my book…..We were told by Baby’s R Us worker, that eventually the quilted bumpers come with bedding set will be recalled. When, no one knows. Better safe…I can’t wait to hear that your little one has arrived, another GREAT nephew (a very special one)!! Keep us posted…..love to you both, Aunt Linda
I should clarify that the bumper is a must in the future, but not a must right now – especially if he goes into a bassinet for a while. He won’t even have a bumper in a bassinet.
As far as burp cloths go, I think we’re set on those – we have a few dozen. (And, as far as I know, Bari, we’re only bringing home one baby from the hospital.) š
You are right, McLittle will not be going into his crib for a while, so you do have time for that purchase. If you can find it for undr $29.00, please let me know, as I must get one for the crib at our house!! Aunt Linda
We never put a bumper in Ruffin’s crib, and he’s been fine. He liked being able to see out. He stayed in the bassinet until he was almost 3 months old. And now that he is standing, the bumpers would have to be taken out anyways, so he doesn’t have something helping him climb out!!
