a little recap

A little roundup of yesterday:

After I visited Target and Michaels (and watched two episodes of Grey’s Anatomy), I baked my mom’s birthday cake, cleaned a little, folded a ton of laundry and started my packing.

Had lunch with Mai at Green Tea (yay for sushi!)

Walked Oliver and Sophie, the two coolest dogs in the neighborhood. Once, someone stopped in their car to comment how the dogs ALWAYS look happy. They look like they’re smiling when we go on our walks 🙂

Painted a ceramics piece. I’ve almost got it glowing. Needs a few more coats, though.

Had dinner with Mai (leftovers) and then had birthday cake with her, my mom and grandparents. Love me some black forest chocolate cake…

I attended the Ari Hest show at the Grey Eagle. It was super great – he’s really good – and it was a very stripped down set. Just Ari and his guitar, and a lot of new material, which I loved. He played the piano for a few songs and he keeps his storytelling to a minimum, which is unusual for artists I usually see. I loved it.

Only problem with last night was a work-related one. Somehow, the cover of our entertainment guide said Ari was going to be at the Orange Peel. He wasn’t. The story clearly stated that. Well, someone brought a copy of the guide to Ari when I was talking to him after the show, and just pointed at the error. I was so utterly embarrassed. I apologized, told him I didn’t catch that (I didn’t even write it) and apologized some more. UGHHHHHH. It bothers me so much because I thought I had checked EVERYTHING for errors. I didn’t think to check the cover, since that’s not my deal.

My mom and I head to Isle of Palms today and I. am. so. ready. Kenny has to work, but I’ll be back Sunday (in time to catch the David Byrne concert at the Civic Center.) I’ll be posting from the beach – with photos (I hope.) Stay tuned…
