Lose a Turkey by Thanksgiving (and #31Days update) #LoseATurkey #TransformationTuesday
Remember earlier this month when I was all “taking small steps in the right direction” with my health? Well, Homecoming happened, followed by family members visiting. Between the two, I ate out TEN times in one week. Out of 21 meals, 10 were not homemade.
Poor, poor decisions. And even fewer workouts.
I survived all of that and over the weekend I knew I had to get myself back on track. I pulled out my eMeals app and planned our food for this week. While I was working out during lunch hour yesterday, I knew I should join Kim for her Lose a Turkey challenge. Granted, I don’t think I will lose 15 pounds in the next 5.5 weeks, but I can reign things in. Re-focus on me, right? And my goal is to lose a small turkey.
I had a goal a couple of months ago that I wanted to be able to run 3.5 miles during lunch hour. Yesterday, I kept pushing myself on the treadmill. Originally I was going for 3 miles. And about 10 minutes in I just wanted to get 30 minutes. I felt like I was struggling. For some reason, though, I kept creating mini goals on the treadmill and when all was said and done, I had done 3.55 miles in 36 minutes.
My new goal is to be able to run 4 miles during my lunch hour. I’m wondering if I can accomplish this feat by the end of November. Maybe Thanksgiving? That would be awesome.
We’re making 3 slow cooker meals this week. Life isn’t slowing down, but I need us to eat things other than drive-thru food and frozen pizzas. I need fewer carbs and more vegetables. Like I mentioned earlier, I took a look at past recipes on eMeals (especially old slow cooker recipes) and I pulled several of our dinners from my app. We only have one meal with beef (something I’m trying to reduce in my diet) and a few vegetarian options. I’m excited about it all.
This month hasn’t been the best for focusing on myself, but I’m hanging in there. I’ve been reading Jen’s Transformation Tuesday posts recently and it’s time for Jaime to be transformed. I feel like a shell of my former self. A much larger shell.
By the time you read this, I should have worked out for the day (weights, since I ran yesterday.) This is just step two in my transformation. Step one was that 3.5-mile run yesterday.
The month is not over. I’m making myself a priority. I just may not blog about it each day.
It’s time to refocus. (photo taken by me yesterday, October 20. It was an amazing sunrise as I drove out of my neighborhood.)\
One last note: I’m linking up with Jen this week. She created a linkup! YAY! Join the linkup – it doesn’t have to be about weight loss. It can be something else you’re doing to better yourself.
Sounds like you have a great plan Jaime! I love the Crock Pot for quick dinners.
I love that you are taking care to take care of yourself. And YAY for linkups!!!
I love you Jamie! So happy you are joining in the #loseaturkey challenge! Some people may only lose a small ham, or even a chicken nugget but the point is to focus on your health until the big Turkey Day and hopefully develop a few healthy habits that stick just like you are doing! awesome job my dear!
