Make Your Own Thing 1 and Thing 2 Craft
It’s been several years since I shared my first Dr. Seuss-inspired craft and now I’m back with a Thing 1 and Thing 2 craft activity you can do with your kids! Six years ago, I was looking for activities for my then-preschooler to do while we did school at home and I tried to work from home. Now I’m looking for activities for my youngest to be engaged (and she LOVES crafting!)
With Read Across America week coming up (the first week in March!) and Dr. Seuss’s birthday, this is the perfect activity to do with kids! At the end of this post, you’ll find links to several other Dr. Seuss-inspired activities. We also love a good bookmark in our house.
First things first, you’ll need a template for this craft. Sign up below to get it delivered to your inbox.
What you need to create this Thing 1 and Thing 2 craft:
- Colored craft/scrapbook paper
- Craft glue
- Sharpie
- Pencil
- Scissors
How to create Thing 1 and Thing 2:
Step 1: Select white, blue and red colored paper for your activity. Trace the hair pattern on blue paper, the legs, arms and body patterns on red paper and the rest of the patterns (head and round shape) on white paper. Cut out the traced patterns.
Step 2: Attach the head on the hair pattern and attach the leg patterns on the bottom side of the body pattern.
Step 3: Attach the hand patterns on both sides of the body pattern. Use a black sharpie to write down ‘Thing 1’ and ‘Thing 2’ on the round shaped paper.
Step 4: Attach the round number label on the middle of the body pattern.
Step 5: Attach the head on the top side of the body pattern.
Step 6: Use a sharpie to draw the face of the Thing 1 and Thing 2 papercraft puppet.
Step 7: Repeat these steps for the other half of the Thing 1 Thing 2 pair.
