Miscellaneous Monday: Meal planning, baby showers and the weather!
We had a jam-packed weekend. I began our grocery shopping on Friday night and finished Saturday afternoon before my husband’s family arrived in town for my baby shower.
So….meal planning. I have a menu planned for this week (with extra meals because we ate out twice this weekend.) I’m excited because I’m coming up with meals I can make ahead and freeze. As soon as I get some of them prepped, I’ll post recipes. I’m really hoping this helps us when the new baby comes.
Have you ever used Ibotta? (<–That’s a referral link. You get $10 credit and I get $5 credit if you sign up.) I downloaded the app late last week, and I’ve earned $13.00 so far. I also haven’t added everything that I earned over the weekend. It’s wild, and I need to use it a little more to explain all of the awesomeness I’ve discovered so far.
My 4-year-old is reading. My mom made him a card, and when he opened it, he walked down the hallway reading it aloud. It’s crazy and we shouldn’t be surprised, but….I’m surprised. And proud.
(Also, he had me build two different towers/forts this weekend. This pyramid was deconstructed just before bedtime on Sunday night.)
Several of my fabulous friends threw a small baby shower for me yesterday. It was low-key, which is what I wanted, and a lot of fun catching up with some of my favorite people in the same room. It also showed me that I need to get out more to hang with my friends.
This weekend’s weather was torture for someone who really can’t run for a couple more months. Torture. It was in the low 60s and sunny, and I was trying to figure out if I could possibly make it two miles jogging. (I am pretty sure I can’t.)
For some reason, we didn’t get outside much on Saturday. I think between all of our errands (haircut for the boy, cleaning, grocery shopping), we just didn’t get out. I made sure that a good portion of Sunday was outside of our living room – and I believe it wore our son out. It made for a better bedtime, for sure.
We ate at Rocky’s Hot Chicken Shack for the first time and I ordered wings – with medium spice. I was warned that the medium was pretty spicy. I assured the girl that I could handle it. (And I did.) I miss good Buffalo wings. Like the real deal.
At that same restaurant, my son asked if they had ice cream. I told him they did, but it was only for kids who ate all of their dinner. I mentioned this to my husband, who was fairly certain our son would forget about the ice cream. When they came out from washing their hands after dinner, Lucas asked for ice cream and Kenny tried to get him to eat ice cream at the house. Lucas responded with, “Mommy said that kids who eat all of their dinner could have ice cream here!” I was totally prepared to buy him ice cream. I don’t know why Kenny forgets that our boy remembers EVERY single thing we say to him.
It was a good weekend. I’m ready for spring break (just a week away!)
What was the highlight of your weekend??
(I’m linking up for Marvelous Monday – and I hope your Monday is great!)
What a fun baby shower! So nice to see you this weekend.
I’m not a big buffalo wing person, (not a fan of spice!) but those fries look AMAZING.
Sounds like an amazing weekend! And go Lucas for reading. That is absolutely awesome. And that tower thing? Super cool. My boys would LOVE that!
Your boys totally need this kit 🙂 http://amzn.to/1OY5TDE
