miscellany Monday – back from vacation
I’m back from vacation (even though I never took a true break from blogging.) Just a few miscellaneous items for this Monday morning.
1. I think that I’m done traveling for the summer. (My husband, however, has one more trip.) I’m kind of excited about this fact. It’s time to “vacation” in my own city!
2. Have you seen the Stream of Consciousness Saturday posts yet? If not, check them out, and link up this coming weekend! It literally will take just over 5 minutes. Five minutes for blogging, and about a minute to link up.
3. Have you traveled anywhere this summer? If so, where have you gone?
4. We came home to a gajillion fruit flies in our house. We emptied all trash cans, all dishes were clean, the garbage disposal had even been run before we left. We forgot about the compost under our sink. I could kick myself right now. (A bowl of vinegar + a few drops of dish detergent seem to be helping, but ohmygosh the fruit flies. Ugh.)
5. My husband and I are doing the Weight Watchers Simple Start program this week and next. Day one was yesterday and it was tough. My body has a love/hate relationship with carbs and processed foods. (The difference this time versus last time I did Simple Start is that I’m not really using the fat free products WW loves to promote. We’re focusing on the whole foods, fruits and vegetables.)
6. I think my son is excited to be home. While he had a blast on our trip, he has slept the best this weekend since we’ve been home. And bedtime has been SO much easier. No fighting.
It’s Monday! What are you up to today?
We are up in New Hampshire right now, but we have Disney coming up next month. We are super excited about that.
I love when my Hubs goes off to Atlantic City and leaves me home. I can get so much done without him home.
ooh and fruit flies are so pesky!! I would love to compost, but I’d have to have a container with a lid and a yard bin… one reason I don’t know if I can do it quite yet!
I am just chilling out getting some peace and quiet,My kiddies are abroad with Their grandparents I am looking forward to getting them back I am missing them but also enjoying some quiet time and spending time with my horse.
Isn’t it the best feeling when you get home from traveling? I just love that first night in bed especially. I have about four more trips planned yet for this summer. I’m looking forward to them, but I’m always glad when the holiday season rolls around and I know I’m at home more. š
I’m getting married in a couple weeks so it’s VACATION time. I’m ready to get out of the Texas heat and next to a beach with a cold drink in my hand š
We had a stay-cation this past week which was great with swimming and nice scenic bike rides! I also have started the natural “diet” with eating mostly fruits and veggies! Really need it after that week of “off” time LOL
Good luck with WW! I hate fruit flies! They attacked our bananas earlier this summer.
Oh dear heavens! I hear you about those dang fruit flies! UGH! I even have them trying to get into my makeup! Crazy!
Ugh – the fruit flies! I hate when we have those pesky buggers at our house!
We’ve been doing more home improvement projects than trips these days š But we have one to Orlando and one to the beach coming up soon, so that will be nice!
Sadly I’ve been stuck in my house almost all summer. I did however get a chance to visit the city where my college is located a couple of times but I wouldn’t count that as vacation since it’s only a half hour away!
We have a beach weekend trip planned. We do not really travel over the summer, we enjoy staycations at home .
We’ve been to an amusement park and a zoo so far this summer. We have trips planned up until Halloween. We are having an issue with fruit flies also. We usually do the vinegar and dish detergent trick but it’s not doing much this year.
We haven’t vacationed anywhere but at home this summer. The last big vacation we went on was Myrtle Beach a few years ago. I’d love to go back! Ughhhh, on the fruit flies. Those things are relentless!
I am a lifetime member of WW and have gained all my weight back. I lost all my weight on the older Winning Points program. I don’t like how now all fruits and vegetables for the most part are 0 points. Someone could really go overboard with things like bananas if they are not paying attention. Add a few of them to a smoothie and there is 300-400 calories. I have tried to go to the meetings around here (I lost my weight in OK and I am in MI now) and I hated how they tend to push all these prepackaged foods. I just dont want to use them. I would be interested to follow along in your progress.
Not sure what I would have done about those fruit flies but it seems like you have things under control. My Monday turned out to be just ok. Here’s hoping my Tuesday is better.
We are actually on vacation right now. We are in our favorite beach location on the Outer Banks… Ocracoke! We have also had the fruit fly problem before! Such a pain!
Today was the dreaded Monday Laundry day. It seems to always be piled up after the weekend. sorry to hear about the fruit flies yuck.
We went to Hot Springs last weekend for a long weekend and it was nice. But there’s no place like home!
I am working on the WW Simple Start, beginning today, as well! It’s tough giving up so many foods I love. I don’t think we will be vacationing this summer. We want to save up for a couple of big trips in 2015.
Gah, those fruit flies. They are the worst! We have sugar ants in our house all of a sudden. No idea where they came from, what they’re eating, or how to completely get rid of them.
We went to Puerto Rico for a week and are leaving for North Carolina on Friday, Nashville in September and two out of town weddings. Lots of traveling!
Welcome back home from your trip! Boo to the fruit flies, but yay for vacations. š
We haven’t gone anywhere this year yet, but we have two trips coming up. I do love the feeling of relaxation when you get home though!
I haven’t gone any where this summer. But we hope next summer will be better for us to travel.
Wow that you can say that you’re done traveling. I feel like my travel is just starting!
I am sorry, but I laughed about the fruitflies. I’ve been there! Those bad boys are a pain the butt!
I honestly have no plans for this summer vacation-wise. I am so busy right now with my business. My poor kids are havin to adjust a bit. We will make up for it in the Fall
We usually do our traveling in the fall. Coming home to those fruit flies really stinks. Hope they vacate soon!
Starting Weight Watchers is always tough! After a week or so I remember it being a lot better though.
I’m headed to San Francisco and San Jose next week and I can’ wait! Happy Monday to you too1
I feel like all of my traveling is getting ready to start! I have 2 trips planned in the next 3 weeks!
Ewww. We get fruit flies all the time! I wish I knew a trick to getting rid of them for good!
Fruit flies are not a good thing to come back to from a trip. You are already tired enough. We will be taking a short road trip this summer and a longer vacation in October. Good Monday to you and have a great week.
Sorry to hear about the flies. I do not travel a lot in summer. Most of mine is winter spring and fall.
I think it’s fun to travel, I really, really like it. But that return to the house feels oh so good too. š
My husband and I went to Cancun in June, that is rare normally we do one vacation with the kids or a few small, but it was out 10th anniversary!
We have traveled to Idaho this summer and are headed to a goat farm in St. Louis before too long. I love traveling in the summer!
We haven’t traveled anywhere this summer. We have done a few staycations though.
Loved reading your Monday post! We’ve done a lot of traveling, too, but it is always best to be back home. Thanks for sharing.
Exploring your own city can definitely be lots of fun! I hope your husband has a safe trip!
I thought I was done traveling until August…but then a friend asked if I wanted to join her on a trip to Costa Rica next week! LOL! I just can’t say no to a tropical vacation!
Good luck on the WW program, I think the ‘real’ foods will help a lot more. Vacation is great but it’s also great to get home and get back on track.
Your said no more trips all summer…you can never have enough trips! I havent really traveled yet (Alabama to visit a friend doesnt count) but I am trying for this short trip to Cali next month!
I’ve been doing Weight Watchers myself. I’ve also done it in the past and I think it is the best weight loss program because it promotes healthy eating and learning how to manage food on your own. Good luck to both of you!
Sounds fun. I can’t weight to hear more about the Weight Watchers plan. I’ve considered it. Sounds like your son was worn out!
Fruit flies are driving me bananas. Yes, the bananas are the very reason they are in my house to being with.
As for travel, we just got back from Palm Springs and have few more trips planned! Yay summer!
Planing a trip shortly for our son’s birthday and super excited! š We have came home to flies before from vacation. Also we have come home to a snake in the middle of the floor when I was a child. š
Welcome back.
We recently returned from Texas. We’ll be going to Texas again, but only for a weekend. And then we’ll be done traveling.
Oh my goodness – fruit flies. Are they all gone now?
And yay for staycations! I am taking one this year. Think I need a break from traveling so I will be vacationing in my city and acting like a tourist. Just thinking of it makes me happy š
