Miscellany Monday: Oscar weekend edition
We’re coming off a super busy weekend. If the kiddo was sleeping, we were doing a lot of cleaning (it was much-needed.) After the craziness of the weather last week, our house took a hit. Our annual Oscars party was last night and we had our work cut out for us.
Saturday morning, I took Lucas to Mountain Play Lodge. I have a longer post about this coming soon. The place was so fun and I can’t wait to take him again. The weather has been so nasty and we needed an outlet to get the energy out.
We visited our friend’s cats twice this weekend! Our friends are out of town and Lucas loves seeing the cats.
I finally got to go back to church yesterday. Between the weather, sickness, travels, we’ve missed several weeks. When we pulled up to the church parking lot, Lucas told me, “Mommy, I’m so happy.” And when I picked him up in the classroom after the service, he turned to my mom and said, “excuse me. Can we come again soon?” He was so happy to be back.
Lucas’ naps have been hit or miss lately. Both days this weekend, he let me rock him to sleep. That rarely happens – in fact, I can’t remember the last time that happened. I’ve kind of missed that.
I even got a (short) run in yesterday. Outside. And I lived.
Finally, last night was our Oscars party. We had roughly 20 people who came by. We had one person who stayed until the end of the show. At one point, I realized that we have so many friends from different stages of our lives and they were all colliding at this party last night. There were friends I had in college, current colleagues, former colleagues, running friends (who are also current colleagues.) What’s awesome is how everyone just fits right in and gets along. I love seeing that happen.
It was a good, good weekend. I am hoping for more weekends like that (maybe with less cleaning) in the near future.
How was your weekend? Do you watch the Oscars? (I’m so, so happy that Selma won for best song. I wish they’d been up for more awards.)
its wonderful when all of the people you love can come together!
What a weekend – and your cookies are amazing! I watched alongside my 7-year-old. Have a great week!
No I did not watch the Oscarss. I agree that it is a wonderful thing when all your friends, new and old and your family all get along!1
It sounds like a very productive weekend! I like those little Oscar cookies! We didn’t do much, other than some shopping for a few home renovation projects we have going on.
I didn’t watch the Oscars. In the past I have, but for some reason this year I just really wasn’t all that interested. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but theres been such a shift in Hollywood the last few years.
My weekend was pretty good, my oldest was home from college. We had dinner with extended family so it was all good.
My weekend was actually pretty good and I have to admit that I don’t really watch these kind of shows. I might be missing out but I prefer to spend a quiet evening with the kids.
