missed snow opportunity

These photos are almost two weeks old, but I did mention back then that we had a decent amount of snow. Later that week, it was in the low 70s. These photos were taken on Monday, March 2.
I thought the carport was supposed to keep the snow and rain off my car? 
We had a garden arch. The melted snow took it down, though:
