The boy and I have managed several photos together the past two weeks. Here’s the thing. I don’t always take the most flattering photos. Sometimes I’m exhausted. Sometimes I’ve done solo-bedtime for a week straight (and parents know that bedtime can be rough.) There are days that I really need to go to bed before my 3-year-old. I still want to document those days. Good things can come from those days.

This was taken at least two weeks ago over my spring break. The husband was out of town. I sent this to the husband to show that we were thriving!

And this was that same week. Lucas wanted to be held “like a baby.” I remember that bath time. I just wanted to go to bed. I don’t do solo bedtime well when I do it often. But holding your little guy like a baby is not always a guaranteed thing, so you photograph it.

This past weekend we went to the mall (it was SO cold outside!) and we went into Barnes & Noble. Lucas is always intrigued by escalators, but has never been up/down one. Until Saturday. He was so excited and kept telling me “I’m not scared! I’m not scared, mommy!” (Thanks, B&N for letting us leave the stroller at the bottom!)

This last one is my favorite, I think. I’m a sucker for little guys in bow ties.

When I look at these photos, I think they get progressively better. I mean, I think I look exhausted in some, I had no makeup on in one and I would probably change a few things about myself in almost all of the photos. But they’re good memories. And the boy beside me? He doesn’t see the flaws I see.

And for that, I’m super grateful that Krystyn hosts the Mommy & Me link-up each week.
