We’re coming off of a crazy (FUN!) weekend. It flew by, and I was so sad to hear the baby cry 20 minutes before my alarm was supposed to go off this morning. Mainly because that meant I really couldn’t go back to bed, and I just wasn’t ready for Monday.
The husband’s birthday was on Saturday. His parents came to town to see Lucas, and joined us for the festivities. We had a small party on Saturday afternoon/evening. We’ve started planning things early in the day so the baby can still make it to bed by a reasonable bedtime.
Kenny was nervous that nobody was going to show up to the party since it was so low-key. We only had 8 people RSVP – and about 25 people showed up. Just goes to show you how much people do like him. 🙂 (And how few people really RSVP these days.)
For the party, some people brought appetizers and snacks to share, and we had snacks and ordered pizza. We ended up running out of pizza (I ordered 4 – I should have ordered more and gone back out to get them) and while everyone got cake, nobody got seconds! Oh, and I made a basil hummus (found the recipe on Pinterest.) It was so-so on Friday night, and I loved it on Saturday. I definitely need to make it again, and make it a day in advance of when I want to
devour eat it. (The only difference with mine is I added a little bit of garlic. I love garlic!)
We spent Sunday trying to regroup and clean a little. And then we went to a friend’s house for dinner. We made it home right at the baby’s bedtime, getting him to bed about 30 minutes late. He has had a busy few days!
This weekend, the husband and I are flying to New York City. Just the two of us. We’re both excited and nervous, as this will be the first time we’re both away from the baby. (my mom will be keeping him.) It’s only the weekend, so I’m hoping we can make the most out of it, and that Lucas has the time of his life. When we get back, I’ll be back in full-on first birthday party planning mode!
How was your weekend? Are you obsessed with the Olympics? (Because I am, and I’m so angry at networks ruining it on twitter and facebook – or in headlines on their websites.) Are you on Pinterest? Tell me something fun. 🙂
