Have you listened to Will Hoge lately? You should. He rocks. I bet he has even written a song that you can relate to.
I have been listening to a live album of Will’s lately, and it brought back many memories. I rediscovered Will on a road trip in 2004. I was driving home, just as Hurricane Frances was about to make herself known in WNC. It was a long trip, and I wasn’t so familiar with his lyrics. Music, yes, but lyrics are always another story. There’s a song he wrote called “Better off now (that you’re gone)” and you can find it on one of the live albums or on Black Bird on a Lonely Wire (which, coincidentally, Edwin McCain thinks is one of the greatest rock albums in all time). The chorus is as follows:
I’m through with this
I’ll forget your kiss and move on
There’ll be no sleepless nights
I’ll be alright from now on
I’m better off now that you’re gone
Now, how many people can you relate that to? Me? At least three people in the past two years. I’m definitely better off now that a few people are gone. I can honestly say that I’m in a much better place now than I was two years ago or even 6 months ago.
Oh, and Tom? This isn’t about you 🙂 But, I highly recommend Will Hoge….you won’t be disappointed!
