My Favorite (Simple) Family Halloween Costume Ideas
I’ve never been big on Halloween costumes until our friends started hosting Halloween parties several years ago. And when our son was born 8 years ago, I started going all in for family costumes. I’ve only gotten my family on board a couple of years for themed costumes, and thought it would be fun to share a few family Halloween costume ideas – in case you can convince members of your family to go all in!
Wizard of Oz – When our son was about 8 weeks old, he attended (and slept through) his first big party. He was Toto, while I was Dorothy and my husband was the Scarecrow. My daughter is toying with the idea of being Dorothy this year. My husband could go the Scarecrow route, and maybe my son could be Toto or the lion? I would consider dressing as Glinda the good witch.
Star Wars – We did this two years ago and it was so. much. fun. My husband was Luke Skywalker, our son was a Stormtrooper, my daughter was Yoda and I was R2D2. My costume was easy – an apron I found on Amazon and Mickey ears I had from several years ago (that were R2D2 themed.) Want to go all the way with metallic leggings? I had some similar to these that were pretty fun.
Ninja Turtles! My son was a Ninja Turtle one year, and my husband snagged a tshirt on Amazon so they could have similar costumes. (Fast forward a few years, and that tshirt is still being worn.)
Other ideas I’ve toyed with (remember, I still need to figure something out for this month!)
Last year we didn’t do a family theme, but I’m thinking this year could be kind of fun – especially if we all did Wizard of Oz.
What are you thinking of for a family costume theme?
