Fun at the NC Mountain State Fair
A week ago – a Saturday morning -we headed to the south end of town and visited the NC Mountain State Fair. I bought tickets in advance and the fair closed Sunday. We got there when the rides opened and quickly learned our son is not a rides type of kid. (Thank goodness I didn’t buy a ton of ride tickets!)
My husband did a couple of the rides with our son, while I wore the baby and kept up with the tickets. Our boy might be ready for more adventure next year…..maybe.
The ride in the above photo had moving floors and the freaked our son out a lot. He was ok in the beginning…until he wasn’t. Poor kid.
But he did like the caterpillar (below.)
They did this tugboat, which we thought just went backwards and forwards – and then it started spinning. I’m proud of our boy for not screaming and demanding to get off because I half expected that!
We debated playing games. My son really just wanted a toy and he didn’t care if he won it or if we outright purchased something. He also wanted all the sugar. I gave him the choice between a toy or cotton candy, and he chose the toy (not surprising.) My husband and I got funnel cake with apples on it, and it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Let this be a reminder to us next time we attend the fair – just forego the funnel cake. Or at the very least, the toppings.
Our girl slept through most everything because that’s how she rolls. And while our son wasn’t so into the fair in the beginning, when you ask him about the fair now he does talk about some of the cool stuff he got to do.
When was the last time you attended the fair?
What a fun family outing! I haven’t been to the fair in years! So sad about the funnel cake!
Aww I think funnel cakes is half the draw of the fair for me, that’s disappointing the funnel cake wasn’t that great. Sounds like a fun event though.
