Disclosure: I received a free download of the album to review from One2One Network. All opinions, as usual, are my own. I wouldn’t promote it if I didn’t really love it, and I wasn’t compensated in any other way.

You guys. It’s been a long time since I’ve professed my love for music. I really love it. I remember years ago, when my husband and I were still dating (even pre-engagement.) He had a large music collection – we shared some of the same favorite artists – and it was fun to go through his CDs to find new-to-me artists. I really got into David Gray when I met Kenny. So many amazing songs from this man.

When I heard that I could review David Gray’s new album, ‘Mutineers’, I was really excited. I mean, how perfect is this opportunity? I love music, I love David Gray and I love sharing new music with my friends. We’re all friends here, right?

I can honestly tell you that this album will be loaded onto my phone and iPod for listening in the car, and when I need a little more relaxing tunes for a workout (I generally need fast songs, but sometimes I need something a little more calm.) I listened to the album in it’s entirety four times while at work on Tuesday. It’s great for background music and I’m loving the first track, “Back in the World”.

I really loved David Gray’s album, ‘White Ladder.’ It’s one of my favorite albums to date, so I was a little anxious (maybe nervous?) to hear this album. (I just did a quick search and hadn’t realized that he has been in the music scene for over 20 years. Way to make a girl feel old.)

I enjoyed the new album so much. ‘Gulls’ can be seen in the video above, and it’s the first full video released ahead of the album, which comes out in a few weeks (June 17 to be a little more precise). Do you ever fast forward/rewind to a spot in a song that you absolutely love? (No? Just me?) This song, ‘Gulls’, is that song for me. At around the 3:00 minute mark, I find myself wanting to listen to it over and over.

‘Back in the World’ is something I’ll find myself singing along to in my car. It was a smart move to make this the first song on the album (it makes me want to hear more) and I’m guessing it may be the first single released. At least I hope it’s the first single released. It deserves so much radio play.

It’s been almost four years since David Gray released an album, and I’m glad that he’s back.
