new shoes make the world go ’round
I was off to a rough start of my furlough day, until I ended up at Discount Shoes in south Asheville. I go to that store about 2 or 3 times a year – and I really should go more often.
I’ve started my marathon training and my feet have been KILLING me. I didn’t realize it until yesterday when I noticed that my right arch was still sore from Saturday’s run (a total of 9 miles.) Then I realized I was running in really old shoes. I try to cycle my shoes out after every marathon. My last pair of running shoes made it through a couple of half marathons and several other races. It’s 2009 and it was time for new shoes.
Check out what I bought!
They’re the Asics Gel Phoenix.
I used to run in only Nike shoes, then it was Adidas in college. Now that I’m a grown up and my feet are crazy weird, Asics are about all I can wear without falling over in pain. New Balance and I don’t get along, either.
The shoes are mega pretty. Silver and blue. The blue will match all of my running gear and the silver/metallic portion compliments the shoe. My only problem is the white areas. Those won’t be white for long.
I ran a few miles today to break them in. So far, so good! I have a 10-miler on Saturday. Before that I’ll do a few more short runs. I’m hoping they don’t fail me.
Oh, and I spent $49.99 on the shoes 🙂 Score one for me!
Good deal! It always helps when they are pretty too.
You’ll have to take me there next month when I’m around. Shoes tend to get pretty dirty here, with all the dirt everywhere. I prefer Brooks, but anything that can stand another 8 months in Iraq will suffice.
