Obama-filled day
Obama came and went today. And it was awesome.
I got to work at 7:45 a.m. I didn’t sleep much last night, anticipating forgetting some equipment and such. Headed to Asheville High at 8:30 to drop off our equipment, and we semi-set up on the risers. Couldn’t do too much setup, since Secret Service would be rummaging through our things anyway.
The live broadcast was ok. Just ok. Good for a first attempt, but we did run into a few problems. The laptop was picking up conversations from people below the bleachers (couldn’t get the microphone on the laptop turned off either) and the video went out at one point.
Thankfully, there was another camera set up as a back-up. The video is here:
It was impressive. I may never have an opportunity like that again, and I’m so glad I got to cover his rally today. Unbelievable. The 10 hour shift was well worth it.
A couple more pics:
(me, before the rally – I’m standing in someone else’s spot, though.)
Obama, from where I stood…or knelt:
And, can you find me in this picture?
I’m physically and mentally drained now. And I’ll be back at it tomorrow!
i wish i didn’t have to work so i could have seen him.
amazing!
