Old School Blogging: Summertime #OSBlog
Y’all. I’m back with one of my favorite features ever – Old School Blogging. And this time I have the honor of co-hosting with Elaine from Miss Elaine-ous Life. Fun stuff!
I hope you’ll link up – old school blogging is the best blogging!
What was your favorite thing you did alone this summer? Our trip to the beach was one of my favorite things we did. We didn’t have the stress of a night in a hotel (we stayed in a condo) and we had pretty amazing weather during the whole trip. The toddler loved the pool, and he tolerated the ocean as best he could.
What was your favorite thing you did as a family this summer? See above? No, really. We took a lot of trips. The zoo, camping, beach. We tried to fit it all in, and we did just that.
What books did you read this summer? I’ve read SO MUCH. I’ve read Tempting Fate by Jane Green, The One & Only by Emily Giffin, multiple books by Kristan Higgins. I also read Hands-Free Mama. I’m currently starting Dark Hope by Monica McGurk. I’m excited about all of the books!
What do you WISH you had done this summer? I wish we’d had just a little more downtime. I know I overbooked us to begin with, and we had an excellent time all around. I’m glad that we did some back to back trips so it DID allow us to be home a couple of weekends.
What movies did you see this summer (if any)? I think we’ve only seen one new movie this summer, and that was this past Saturday. The husband and I were able to see 100 Foot Journey (and I loved it!)
Where did you travel this summer? I’ve been to Atlanta and as a family we’ve traveled across North and South Carolina. Outside of those areas, we haven’t traveled too far.
What was your favorite treat (as in dessert) this summer? Ice cream. And more ice cream. Oh and watermelon. And one last one – s’mores. My boy had his first s’more this summer.
What did you celebrate this summer?Ā In two-ish weeks, we will be celebrating my son’s third birthday! Otherwise, we’ve been celebrating summer.
Did you grow anything this summer?Ā I grew a most excellent garden…mainly consisting of tomatoes! I somehow planted TEN tomato plants. We had a ton of cucumbers, several jalapeno plants, as well as yellow squash and zucchini. I now have bell peppers coming in. (Herb-wise, I tried my hand at cilantro – and failed – and I was successful with basil, mint and most recently parsley.)
What is a favorite post (if you blog) that you wrote this Summer? I finally hit publish on the day of the layoff. It’s been in draft mode since last September. A long time coming. It’s not the most uplifting post, but considering it happened a year ago next week, it felt good to get it out.
What is a favorite photograph that you took this summer? I took some amazing sunrise photos. I had one of them printed as a 16×20 through a deal on Shutterfly. It’s now hanging in our guest room. Best decision ever.
What do you want to do next summer? I hope we get to take a trip outside of the Carolinas. And I also hope we have a bit more downtime.
Mmm… s’mores! I may have had a few of those this summer… š I love that photo and your sunrise shot as well. Sounds like you all had a pretty great summer. Thanks SO much for hosting with me!
ice cream is always the best part of summer. You can never have too much!
Sounds like you’ve been pretty busy. Where did you go in NC? I see you’re from Asheville, I live in Elizabeth City (near the Outer Banks). We have been all over this summer as well, but we mostly visit VA since it’s right up the road.
My in-laws are in Lake Waccamaw, so we were there after we visited Edisto in SC. We usually visit Wilmington at least once a year!
Love that beach shot! I had one from our trip it SC turned into a print and right now it’s just propped on the mantle.
Great summer! I love your beach/sun picture! I took one this summer that turned out to be one of my favorites too!
The picture eating the smore is my favorite! Looks like a great summer š
This is so much fun. As much as I enjoy reading recipes and crafts, it’s always good to see a post like this.
I enjoy reading these kinds of blog posts! It’s always so fun learning personal things about bloggers I’ve only ever met online. Score for the first time S’more!!
It has been an all work and no play summer this year, so I may have to plan for a really great winter vacay. Which is something I usually do anyway, I live in the Northeast so I tend to stick around during summer and go away once winter hits.
Busy busy bee this summer. Love the pic of sunrise.
You’re hoping to get out of the Carolinas next year, and I’m hoping to get in! We can wave at each other in the air or on the highway.
I sure miss old school blogging! This Q&A reminds me so much of the MySpace days when it was at its peak. I wasted so much time on there. LOL
I love that sunrise photo. Printing it in canvas was smart! I had like ZERO downtime this summer. I feel you!
I liked reading your post today. It was like playing a game of 20 questions.
I still have my vacation to look forward to!
I honestly didn’t have much fun this summer. It was really intense with working, My poor kids! We will make up for it in the Fall
We had a great summer, although it seemed very short! We had a staycation and enjoyed the pool and some ice cream! We also celebrated my son’s 4th birthday and had a Mario party! It was great!
I love your summer recap…sounds like it was a great one indeed.
I cannot wait to go see 100 Foot Journey…it comes out next week here in Trinidad. And, that picture…oh my goodness…breathtaking!
I love smores and ice cream and the beach! That sunrise shot is amazing. I really need to go through some of my photographs and have someprints made!

What beautiful pictures. Summer fun!
My youngest son does not like Smores. I’m still mortified. But I sure do. š
I can’t believe it’s already time to start wrapping up summer! It seems the summers where I schedule us a lot, I wish I’d had more downtime. When we have more downtime, I wish we’d planned more. Go figure!
Lately, around here it had been feeling like Fall. I love your summertime images though!
It’s great to look back on some of the wonderful summer memories. Glad yours was such a good one
My trip to Nashville with my son this summer was awesome. My family’s trip to the beach was a lot of fun too. We also spent a few days in Atlanta and went to Stone Mountain and Six Flags. It’s been a great summer!
