Alba Botanica: organic sunscreen – safe for kids!
This post is sponsored by Alba Botanica but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.
We are a family of four very fair-skinned people so spring and summer means sunscreen use is high. I have a few things I look for in a sunscreen and one is the ingredients. I will often search for safety ratings (they really do exist!), and I prefer to use an organic sunscreen and something that is more natural, while still containing a higher SPF. Alba Botanica meets all of my criteria, while still staying within a decent budget!
We’re staying closer to home right now, and for the foreseeable future. Who knows when the previous normal will return, and while we would love to take a beach vacation, I just don’t know if it’s in the cards for us. But you know what is achievable? Staycations and playing at home. This past weekend, we were able to explore the grounds of the Biltmore Estate. We spent about two hours wandering and running.
The estate is minutes from our house and we are so lucky to have passes to visit. But with all of that space, there was very little coverage for us to escape the sun. See these kids? They needed to be protected. š
I love that the Alba Botanica Hawaiian Coconut Clear Spray Sunscreen is SPF 50. The spray means it’s quick and easy to apply on myself when I’m in a rush with dealing with my children, and it’s easy to take along and apply when we’re out and about (going on short hikes, especially, near our house.)
Organic Sunscreen
Alba Botanica suncare products are:
- Affordable (so important for me!)
- Vegetarian
- Cruelty-Free
- Contains Recyclable Packaging
- Reef Friendly
I love the convenience of the spray sunscreen (so much easier to apply it on the kids), but our summer preschool requests we not send the spray kinds, so I’m happy to send them the lotion for kids. The other thing I love? They make products for sensitive skin. (It’s no secret my kids have battled skin sensitivities since they were tiny infants.)
And while I am on the topic of convenience, let’s talk Walmart Grocery Pick Up. That’s how I was able to pick up all five of the Alba Botanica products! If you haven’t used this service, I have to ask WHY NOT? Select your day and time for pick-up (I chose a Saturday evening), and start adding items to your cart. I was able to shop for items until the night before my pick-up time. When I drove into the parking lot, my order was brought out within two or three minutes – and they loaded my car for me. It’s such a fantastic experience and great for busy moms who just aren’t shopping in stores right now.
When we came home after running around the grounds, my daughter was wandering around and remembered I said I would bring the kiddie pool out. She mentioned to me, and I couldn’t go back on my promise (especially knowing we were going to be getting 4+ days of rain beginning the next day.) So out came the pool, on came her bathing suit, and I set it up in the only space that was really shaded – but it still allowed some sun. Of course, I want to make sure she is covered. It’s my job to ensure my kids don’t get burned.
If this is what our summer is going to look like, I’m glad we’ll be prepared.
I have used their products for a long time, but I’m not sure I have tried their sunscreens. I’ll have to check these out.
We used a lot of the spray sunscreen on the kids today as they played in a kiddie pool! (I love that it’s easy, high SPF and it didn’t wash off easily as they played.) š
