Our baby is 2 years old!

This morning my son asked if his sister was still a baby. I told him, “not really. She’s been a toddler for a while now.” To which he told me that she’ll be a baby to him for a while. It’s going to take me some time to stop referring to her as our baby. (I’m just not ready to admit how old she’s really getting.)

My baby is 2! She’s so much fun, and I’m determined that we are not going to have “terrible 2’s.” I want to remember all of the fun of a toddler because it really is pretty awesome, despite how exhausting and maddening it can be at moments.

She loves to climb. She climbs chairs, benches, boxes. Whatever she can find, she’ll use it to leverage herself to a higher place. Tonight I was cleaning in the kitchen when I heard her say “cake! cake!” and I looked over to find her on the table eating the cake. Girl knows what she wants.

She loves to color. She received a table and chairs set for her birthday, and she will sit in the living room and color (instead of always making a beeline for her brother’s coloring items in his bedroom.) Over the weekend she even colored the television. (See above. She likes to climb.)

She refers to her brother as “Tito.” It’s really funny, and she laughs so much when he says “my name’s not Tito!” We *think* she may have heard us saying “sit down” to her brother approximately 9,328,742 times each day, and it came out as “tito” when she tried to repeat us. So. We may have to change his name to “sit down” or “tito.”

(She is nothing but blur. I need to work on getting a better photo!)

She still loves to eat, and doesn’t really enjoy meat. Fruits and vegetables are totally her thing.

She really loves to hug. Saying good night to everyone is quite the task now because she has to hug everyone for a LONG time. (Hug Machine is one of our favorite books. I highly recommend it for any toddler.)

She sleeps pretty good at night. I think we’re going to be adjusting her bedtime soon, but right now she goes down around 7, and falls asleep around 7:45. She wakes between 6:30 and 7. She still naps once a day for about 2 hours.

Her vocabulary has exploded over the past few months and it’s so much fun!

She’s wearing size 24 month clothes and seems so petite. She can wear some 2T items. She has started forming an opinion on her clothes, and I try to pick out items I know she’ll enjoy. (She likes to wear Elmo and Abby, flowers and hearts.)

She has received several dolls between Christmas and her birthday and it’s sweet to see her interacting with them. She also LOVES playing with balls – and bubbles!

She is incredibly sweet and snuggly and I just can’t imagine our lives without her. I’m so glad she’s ours.
