our house made it on tv
I came home this afternoon (my lunch break, at almost 2:00) and saw the local tv station across the street from us. Our house sits on a corner, and our driveway is directly across from one of our neighbor’s driveways. I had no idea what they could be doing over there, and thankfully my mom watched the news.
The station did a story on the mayoral race – our current mayor lives on our street. Her opponent is 22 and has spent $10 for his campaign. And that’s what the story was about.
Here’s the kicker, though. While he was filmed in some location overlooking the city of Asheville, she was filmed with our house in the background. It’s blurred in most shots, but it’s our garage, trash can, wheel barrow – and then a full shot of the house and our yard. If they were going to come into the neighborhood to film her, why didn’t they get her in her own yard?
I have nothing against the mayor. I’ve even voted for her. I just think the whole situation is a little odd. They could have even interviewed her downtown. Next to city hall. Somewhere that makes sense.
Instead, our house was on television tonight. And now it’s online for your viewing pleasure.
