Our Navitat Ziplining Adventures

Last spring, my husband won passes to Navitat Canopy Adventures – ziplining. I drive by the exit for Navitat twice a day on my drive to and from work, but we’ve never been. I think they’ve been around for 6 or 7 years and people from all over come to visit. (Just in our trip, out of a group of 10, we were the only ones from the Asheville area.)

We obviously couldn’t zipline in the spring with me being a billion months pregnant, and at the end of summer we chose a fall weekend to use our passes. Turns out, the weekend of our wedding anniversary was perfect, even if on the chilly side.

So here’s the thing. I have a fear of heights. And I don’t consider myself very adventurous. That said, I agreed to do this with my husband and I wasn’t going to back out.

We had a fantastic guide and we were in a group of 10. I think normally the groups are 8 people. We didn’t take our phones, so purchased the photos at the end. Fortunately, the guide takes pictures of everyone at certain times, plus a few scenic pictures. We were there right at the beginning of peak colors in Western NC – perfect timing!

We did three zips, and while we went together, we were on separate lines (so, you know, if one line broke, our children wouldn’t be without both parents – these were the things we discussed leading up to our trip.) One of our zips was 3/4 of a mile long.

We definitely would go back again. I’m still not over that fear of heights (I think it’s the having my feet planted against canvas at thousands of feet in the air that has a difficult time.) It was a pretty cool rush, though.

I have no idea how we’re going to top this for our 10th anniversary.
