My favorite outdoor entertaining must-haves

We love entertaining and entertaining outdoors is kind of our jam. Even with the worst deck ever, we have hosted some epic parties over the years. Our new deck in 2021 was a game changer. It’s triple the size of our last deck, not falling apart and it’s so fun to gather now. We envisioned hosting fun events before we bought our house and we definitely have some go-to items when it comes to our outdoor entertaining must-haves.
There are certain things I think make outdoor entertaining easier. Great snacks, obviously, but also good wine, a fire pit and fun lights in and around the yard. Keep reading for a quick look at some of our outdoor entertaining must-haves.
Gather ’round the fire pit.
We’re on our second fire pit (in about 8 or so years.) We’re looking at eventually adding something permanent, but for now we prefer a fire pit with a great cover to help it from rusting. Sunnydaze Decor has a great selection of outdoor fire pits. I didn’t see any that offer a waterproof cover, but you can get one inexpensively through Amazon. Trust me on this. Protect your investment!
Stock up on beverages!
Our friends tend to be wine drinkers. We often have a bottle or two of wine to share and several of our friends always bring wine to share at our gatherings. I really enjoy trying a wine club to have a wide selection on hand, and the California Wine Club is a great option if you’re looking for high quality wine at a generous discount! They have a variety of clubs to choose from – a premier series, an international series and the case club series, just to name a few. You’re able to customize your wine, so if you prefer red or white wine, you aren’t stuck with something you didn’t want in the first place.
Cook ’em up.
One of the first things we bought after our deck was completed last summer was a new grill! We went fairly basic with a Char-Broil Classic Grill and a year later it’s still going great. It’s been 10 months since we got the propane tank and we haven’t had to refill it yet. We use it weekly!
Light it up.
Who doesn’t love twinkle lights? We have some in our dogwood tree, but we also have solar lights around the base of the deck and in other parts of our yard. My favorite lights are these solar lights that change colors. Between the fire pit and the solar lights, there is great ambient lighting in our yard, making it one of my favorite places in spring and summer.
I love entertaining outdoors in the spring and summer. What are some of your favorite items to have around?
