party motivation

There’s nothing like a party to get us motivated to do some home improvement projects. Take our ”Lost finale party last May. We replaced a light fixture, medicine cabinet and painted – in the 36 hours leading up to our party. A little stressful – and not recommended – and we haven’t done another improvement to that bathroom since May.

Our Oscar party is tonight. So not only are the main rooms cleaned (living and dining rooms, bathrooms and our large “blue room” downstairs) but all clutter has been removed, and we replaced some door knobs. When we moved into this house, we didn’t realize until we had a party one day that the bathroom lock didn’t actually work. We vowed to eventually replace them, and what better time than the day you’re about to have around 25 guests in your house? Thankfully, they were somewhat easy to change out (though, 8 a.m. is not my ideal time to do house work.)

Next up is hanging a coat rack I picked up yesterday. I’m willing to bet it won’t be as easy as the door knobs. And we’ve actually made the decision to not put it up today. It was around 74 degrees today. Nobody is wearing a coat over here.

Now, why in the world can’t we keep our house looking this great EVERY day?? I admit that I’m a lot little lazy, but surely we can’t be the only people who have this issue.

My goal this week is to work on the other rooms – the ones our guests won’t see tonight. I’m on furlough for the next week, so it’s not like I won’t have some time on my hands.

And now I’m off to take photos of our pristine-looking home, so I can show off here on my blog. Happy Oscar night!

  1. I need to have a big shindig at our house quarterly so I get all the deep cleaning and stuff done that I put off constantly. You are not the only one!
