Plan with me: The start of February – and a little bit of bullet journaling!
A while ago, I shared how I plan and decorate my planner in a fairly simple way. I’m still sticking with the simple designs (I just don’t have the head space or time to create elaborate designs in my planner.) This year I’m also going a step further with planning for my website, and I’ve incorporated a bullet journal! I have friends who rave about bullet journaling. I love that I can be a little more creative in that planner, but I also only include items that I absolutely want to see or really need on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
Since it’s February, I’ve pulled out all of my pink, red and Valentine-inspired washi tape. I’ve found that Target carries some REALLY cute holiday-inspired tape in their One Spot! I picked up a couple rolls of the “I love you” tape and I plan to use it for many weeks to come.
I write things in my planner as soon as I know about them. I decorate with washi tape on a week by week basis. This is why you see writing in my planner before any sort of embellishments are done. And see the bottom half? Well, I messed up and covered it with washi tape. All is good.
I think all three of the washi tape designs I’m using this week came from Target. I like the pink glitter tape, but it’s really wide – and it actually doesn’t have a strong hold, so it wouldn’t be great on a craft project (unlike a lot of tape I use with my son on his school projects.)
I’m also using Paper Mate Flair pens. (That’s an affiliate link, by the way!) I love, love, love these markers and use them in all of my planners and list-making. Each week I try to keep things sorted by color. This week I have personal life items in the blue colors. The pink during the week is work-related. And the gold is for bills that are due. (Childcare – it’s tough to keep up with sometimes.) As the week goes on, I’ll add more as far as when I have to pick up my kids, and other reminders that might seem simple, but I’ll clearly forget if I don’t write it down.
For my blog, I did start bullet journaling. I actually started this back before the holidays, but I wasn’t super consistent with it during December (because…life.) I want to give this another couple of weeks before I really report back on how I like it. I am loving it right now, though. I can keep the journal in my purse, and I ONLY keep track of posts, income and deadlines for my site in here. (I’m also keeping track of content ideas, and it helps keep my thoughts on track.)
I have a full post planned for the bullet journaling side of things. For now, I’m trying to keep it as simple and easy to maintain, as possible. I also messed up in the calendar, but thankfully a couple of hearts covered my mistake! The heart tape came from Target. The black and white polka dots came from Pick Your Plum forever ago.
So much can be done when you have pretty pens and washi tape!

How are you planning these days? Do you come up with elaborate designs, or do you like to keep things simple?
We have the same EC planner. I love decorating mine with stickers and goodies too. I think it’s my new grown-up addiction since as a kid I loved stickers and colored pens.
