My boy didn’t have daycare on Monday, and my husband and I technically had to work, but I took the day off. Since the husband was at work, and a friend suggested we meet up at Biltmore, we decided on a get together at Antler Hill Village so Lucas could play.

And play, he did. He made friends like a champion and showed kids how to slide down the slide – like a BOSS. He was fairly well-behaved (which is saying a lot if you saw how he melted down later that day) and he was just a pleasure to be around and watch.

He also thought Biltmore was “Carol’s house.” And when we drove onto the estate grounds, he thought we were at the zoo. It was all very cute, because he’s very cute.

I’ve only recently discovered this play area at Biltmore, and it’s so worth the annual pass. I had thought we would have time to check out the gardens and at least drive by the house, but we spent two hours walking around Antler Hill Village – and we still didn’t pet any of the animals (we did see goats and chickens, but didn’t get too close, and the petting area was technically not open yet.)

Do you have a fun local landmark that you enjoy visiting on a regular basis? I’m so glad we have annual passes. They seem pricey when I renew them, but they’re so worth it during the year!

  1. Looks like a great place and your son had a great time :-).We have a small safari drive through place that we have been so many times its hard to count,The kids ask to go all the time,They also have a petting zoo area which is really nice.

  2. We have a few places we like to visit outdoors before it gets too hot. Which reminds me. I need to get annual passes to our local zoo. I think I’ll take the kids there a lot this summer, especially in the early part of the day or later in the evening when it cools off a bit.

  3. My kids are older now so they aren’t really into days out like this, but I sure miss those days of going to the museum. I do drag them along with me to my design centers…I think they like it more than they are willing to admit

  4. There’s a pioneer village at one of the local parks and I love going during their heritage days. Other than that, we like to find things one at a time – always doing something different.

  5. Your son is adorable. Love the hat. I miss that age – my kiddos are all growing too fast. But we still go to local parks too

  6. So cute! When my husband and I visited North Carolina a couple of months ago, we were hoping to fit in a visit to the Biltmore Estate, but just didn’t have the time. I would even play in the kid’s area, hehe.
