pre-race nerves

I’m running a half marathon tomorrow, kind of in my own town. It’s about 20 or 30 minutes away (so at least I’ll sleep in my own bed tonight.) I’m a bit nervous.

I tripped on a curb yesterday on my way into work and my leg is sore. It’s the same soreness I had following my marathon.

I’m afraid I won’t get enough sleep tonight. Or that I’ll wake up the kiddo in the morning (which will be really early since we have to be at the race location by 5 a.m.)

I’m concerned I’ll forget something.

I’m worried I won’t run as hard as I know I can.

I’m nervous that I’ve already peaked and maybe I’m losing speed? (Is that possible in two weeks time?)

I shouldn’t be nervous. This is my tenth half marathon, not my first.

And in 24 hours, it’s all going to be over. (It has to be. The race starts at 6:01 a.m.!)
