Pregnancy must-haves (second time around!)
This pregnancy has been so different from the first (I know all pregnancies are different.) What worked well for me last time, didn’t help at all this time. From the very beginning, this pregnancy was different.
My top 7 must-haves for my second pregnancy:
Antacids. All of the Tums (the name brand or the store brand, it didn’t matter.) A couple of weeks ago, my doctor finally recommend Pepcid Complete. Game changer.
Sea-bands. I needed these early on. I was still trying to keep things secret, so I would wear these at my desk, take them off when necessary to walk to a different office, and keep them in my pocket when I couldn’t wear them. (They aren’t pretty. But they can be hidden if you’re wearing long sleeves.)
All of the pillows. Alllllllll of them. Or maybe just 3. I do sleep on my side, but I tend to switch sides throughout the night and I like having them around me, to hold.
Only the best maternity yoga pants ever. (And don’t forget the shorts. I’ve lived in these at my house the past couple of weeks.)
Tylenol PM. Just one helps me sleep at night. At the moment, I don’t suffer from insomnia (unless I’m stressed about something), but for a few weeks, I could not sleep at all. Last pregnancy, I didn’t realize I could take Tylenol PM until I was around 39 weeks pregnant – not the time you should be learning these things!
A glass mug for ice water. I crave ice water, and my mug is the best thing ever. My friend, April, gave me a mug she had etched for me and my son even prefers “sharing” my water versus drinking his own.
ProCompression socks. There was a week that I noticed the swelling in my feet was so awful if I didn’t work from home (where I could have my feet elevated on my couch or foot stool.) Then I tried my running compression socks, and it made a WORLD of difference! I would wear the socks in the mornings and take them off after lunch, or even at the end of the work day and had no issues with swelling. (If you sign up for their email list, you can find out which sock of the month is 40% off.)
Recovery should be interesting this time around, but I’m looking forward to it. I’ll be recovering in spring/summer instead of fall into winter. And I have a 4-year-old on top of a newborn. A 4-year-old who is so active and loves for his parents to play with him constantly (and lately he’s only wanted to play with water guns.)
