progress in our house

After my anxious blog last night, we had progress today. While Kenny worked in the yard, I started working inside. I cleaned a little lot and then I started to tackle my desk.

My computer desk is really a desk my mom used as a sewing desk (which her aunt also used as a sewing desk). It has lots of great drawers….great for shoving things in so it looks like your desk is clean. I spent over 2 hours sorting, shredding and cleaning out the drawers – and only have 3 of 6 drawers cleaned and organized. But it’s a start. At first, I was thinking the desk would move into the guest room and revert back to a sewing desk, but now I’m thinking both of our desks may move downstairs. I need to see how I feel later this week about it. If so, I need to start looking at different wooden computer desks that will suit the office.

I also moved some stuff around in the guest room. Chloe’s litter box is going to have to go back in there (sorry, future guests) and I wanted to move some of the plants around. Sadly, there’s a plant (that has somewhat sentimental value) that I’ve neglected, and I discovered it shoved in a corner this afternoon. Hoping to revive it and bring it back to good health – and out to the living room. (I have a lot of plants. I secretly love it.)

And the real progress came this afternoon when we ordered the crib! That has me more motivated to get my desk out of this room this week. The crib should arrive on Wednesday.

Kenny will be out of town soon, and I think it’ll be my task to gather paint samples and think about what we’re going to do in the nursery. We don’t have a set theme – I just want something that the baby can grow up with. And something that I can tolerate for a long time.

So, as you can see, there’s been progress. And that makes me feel better.

(Oh, and an update to the yard sale we had yesterday….It was okay. We got rid of a ton of stuff, didn’t make a lot of money, but my garage looks like a different garage. It’s weird to see empty space in there! My grandma is having a yard sale in a few weeks, and I’ll probably drag a few more things down there that I’ve come across. We’ll see.)
