We visited Florida at the beginning of this month, and I can’t believe it’s taken SO long for me to post about it.
My dad and stepmom moved to Florida from New York three years ago. We went down there two summers ago, but skipped last year since I was insanely pregnant. We hadn’t seen them in several months, so in May (I think?) started planning a trip down with the baby.
We didn’t do much while we there, aside from me running a 5k, and making a few trips to the beach (they live just a few minutes from the naval base, so we often went over there since it was empty and just easier for us to access with the baby.)
Baby’s first look at the ocean.
We essentially spent almost every morning on base at water aerobics. My dad took the baby to the shallow end so they could play, and lots of the ladies LOVED watching the baby. I’m sure they missed us the following week when we didn’t show up.
When we weren’t at water aerobics, we were either trying to nap (the baby took great naps following swimming) or spending time at the beach. It was sunny, hot and humid. But it was breezy and cool(er) at the beach.
The kiddo had such fun playing with the water. We would try to find a tidal pool to sit him in, and he’d take everything in – including water. He has a love of putting water on his hand and then “drinking” the water from his hand. Silly boy.
Last walk on the beach, the night before we left.
When we weren’t in the sun, Lucas found a new toy. The Sunday paper. We folded it every night, and every morning he would take it apart and throw it around on the floor. I’m going to get him into reading the print edition before he turns 5. Hopefully we have a newspaper subscriber on our hands! 🙂
