review: Court Yard Hounds newest album Amelita
I participated in this campaign for One2One Network. I received a free copy of the CD to facilitate my review. By posting, I am eligible for incentives. All opinions stated are my own.
I recently received a copy of ‘Amelita’ the latest album by the Court Yard Hounds. You may know the Court Yard Hounds better as two-thirds of the Dixie Chicks. Sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Robison make up the duo – Court Yard Hounds.Ā Ā
Before I received the album, I knew that the two were doing their own musical venture, but I hadn’t listened to them. Also right before I received this album, I had thrown some old Dixie Chicks songs on my iPod and had been reminiscing about listening to them back in the day. I like a variety of music so I was excited to listen to the new music.
The Court Yard Hounds are a good mix between country-folk-pop (in my ears, that is.) I saw their performance on a morning talk show the week the new album came out, and I really enjoyed their song, “Sunshine.” After listening to their songs a few times through, I really enjoyed “The World Smiles.” It’s sweet and light and it’s easy for me to listen to at work. Much like the entire album.Ā
I was anticipating a little more upbeat songs like “Sunshine”, which happens to be the first song. It was all a little softer after that song, though. The whole album is pretty soothing. I don’t think it’s something I’ll put on my iPod to run to, but it’s good for days in the office when I need to tune out people around me without being too distracting.Ā
You can listen to “Sunshine” here:
did realize they had an album out. š
