running Monday

The running-Jaime is back! I think I needed the break last week, not only to get my breath back, but to also get my legs back!

I did a weights workout last night that was still making me a little sore today. I also ran about 3.5 miles yesterday. Not sure which made me more sore, but we’ll say the weights since I rarely do lunges.

I skipped my 11 mile run on Saturday with high hopes that I’d do it on Monday. I set out this morning and began running in north Asheville, where I had views of the Grove Park Inn, golf courses and the Asheville Country Club. Definitely not “my” part of Asheville (I live closer to the hip bars.) It’s a very pretty run, and I never, ever run it by myself. There are some serious hills and it helps to have running buddies with you who will walk the hills with you or talk you through them. I like chatting during my run. I didn’t walk at all today!

During my ninth mile, I was starting to have some pain in my foot and could feel the blisters forming. By the end of the ninth mile, I was at my car and decided to call it quits. I needed to run by UNCA to get my last two miles in, but I also need my toes for next Saturday’s 12 mile run.

And looking at my calendar now, I was only supposed to run 10 miles, so I wasn’t that far behind.

In total, I ran my 9 miles in 80 minutes. Not too bad!! I had been counting on 10 minutes. I guess the not walking and trying to get it done quickly helped! The not talking part probably also helped me.

Up next: Saturday’s 12 mile run and a 5k on Sunday (the Frostbite 5k, which I’ve never run before.) Before you know it, I’ll be in Nashville for my next marathon!
