running plans – always changing
We’re going to step away from the adorable baby pictures today and talk a bit about my running plans, or lack thereof.
I’ve had plans to run two half marathons and a slew of other short races in my area this fall. I loved the 5ks I’ve run this year, and was looking forward to running more and getting back into the swing of things with half marathon training.
Except I’ve only run once since July 4. That’s kind of really sad. And last week I realized there is no way I can train for a half marathon and be ready by September 15. (I probably could have kicked into high gear, but if you know Asheville, you know that the hills are no joke. I don’t want to get hurt.)
So today I signed up for the Asheville Citizen-Times 5k, rather than the half marathon. I’m okay with that. I also signed up the husband. A short race may be just what we both need.
If you’ve been following for a while, you know I’ve also run the Power of Pink relay in October for several years. Even last year, I ran it two weeks after I was “cleared” to exercise following my c-section. Well, this year, they changed the Saturday of Power of Pink, and it now falls on the same day as the Bethel half marathon. Bethel happens to be one of my most favorite half marathon races because it’s not quite as hilly, it’s still relatively close to my house, it’s a small race, and it’s in October – so the weather is usually quite amazing.
Sadly, I will not be running Power of Pink. Maybe next year if the two races don’t fall on the same weekend I can swing it.
I’m excited about my upcoming races. Now if I could just get into training more consistently.
Any races in your near future? Do you have any races that you regularly run? (I’m really bummed about POP changing. Seriously. It’s so much fun.)
i had to change the late summer triathlon i always do because it was the same weekend as the mud run. i was bummed, but the mud run comes first!
