Santino and Austin in Asheville

Some days my job is really blah, and some days it’s really fun. Today, it was really fun.

This afternoon, I noticed one of the pop-ups on my Twitter tool said something about Santino and Austin (from ‘Project Runway’ and currently ‘On the Road with Austin & Santino’) were just spotted downtown near Kilwins. Knowing that one, I work in downtown Asheville and two, Kilwins is just around the corner from me, I had to get someone to go stalk find them with me. So I called Carol. (I also know that Carol is a huge PR fan.) She told me to meet her near her office, which is where we found Jason…also interested in this little Tweet I saw. (Side note….I love ‘Project Runway’ and even though Santino Rice was hateful, I thought he was HILARIOUS and an amazing designer during his season on the show.)

So we wandered outside. Went by Kilwins, and the duo wasn’t there. Went around to Pritchard Park, and still no sign of them. We kept thinking, “if we were Santino and Austin, where would we go for design inspiration?” So we walked down to Lexington Ave. Again, no sign of them. We were making our way back up to Battery Park (Jason kept getting recognized by fans cool Asheville people) and we were talking about what Santino looked like – I don’t think Jason was very familiar. And then Jason said, “look at that guy with the funny hat.” And Carol replied, “That’s Santino.” And “No, really, that’s him.”

We made our way across the street, cutting them off and almost pushing Jason in front of us, because all of the sudden, Carol and I couldn’t speak to them. (I mean, really, what would we have said??) They were nice enough, but couldn’t talk about their show (for obvious reasons) and were just on a break from working.

I managed to grab one photo on my cell phone – of Santino in his crazy hat, talking to Jason. The guy on the right I guess is one of their “handlers” and was rushing them away.

Not bad for a day stalking celebrities at the office.
