saving lives one cat at a time
I helped save a cat. Seriously. Here’s the story.
I had just finished cleaning up paint supplies and was on the computer (like normal) and the doorbell rang several times. I went to the door and a girl told me her cat was stuck in the sewer in front of our house and he was frozen to the grates. They needed warm water, so I hooked them up.
I went down the hill to see if I could help more and started digging in. The guy, Jason, was too big and his arms weren’t fitting down into the sewer. So I gave it the old college try. Lucky for me, I have skinny arms. It’s about the only skinny part of me.
Biscuit (the cat) was meowing and they had mentioned how fat he was. I thought they were exaggerating. Poor Biscuit. I finally got his head, and then grabbed his front legs. Jason leaned down and was able to grab one of his front legs from me and I positioned my arm to let Biscuit use it as a platform. We had to twist him in all sorts of ways to squeeze him out of the sewer.
Poor Biscuit.
He still had ice on his back legs and tail, but he’s back in the arms of his owners. And they’re taking him to the pet ER.
My arms are a little beaten up and I called Kenny to ask him if we could get a cat. He has another snow day tomorrow and is going to go to the animal shelter and check out the cat inventory.
I feel good knowing that the little kitty isn’t hanging out in the sewer anymore.
Still. Poor Biscuit. š
Aww, it makes me feel really good to read something like that. I’m sure you are top cat to Biscuit & his owners today : )
POOR KITTY! I’m glad you were there to help!!!
poor biscut, but glad that you could save him with your skinny arms! š
My hero! Well, okay, Biscuit’s hero. Glad you were able to help. Would love it if ya’ll got a kitty. And btw….you’re skinny all over! You’re in better shape than me (and you know how much weight I’ve lost) Awesome job, kitty rescuer!
How did Kenny make out at the animal shelter? Great work last night…..It is bitterrrrr cold up here. Wish this deep freeze would go away (-15 wind chill last night)!!!
He ended up skipping the shelter today. We’re *this* close to adopting. It’s a huge responsibility, though, and I want to make sure we’re 100% good with it.
Ahh but that’s the beauty of cats… they are very low maintenence. (I’m not dissing dogs! I love all animals… but just adore my cats; and I appreciate not having to walk them in foul weather, etc.) My cat just gets me, ya know? LOL
Keep us posted!
