I wish I had a few protecting me. I was thinking about it the other morning, while waiting for Laura Bush to arrive. So many agents were wandering (maybe not wandering, maybe buzzing?) around the ag center, through the crowd and hanging out in the outlying areas, above the crowds – all of this, for one person? Yes, she’s a pretty important person, but if I had that many people keeping others away from me at all times, my life might be a little easier.
I thought it might be fun to have my picture taken with one of the agents – though, I didn’t think they’d go for that. So, I settled on the PR guy who was our escort throughout the morning. The photo is on my camera, as always, and one day I’ll add it to my blog.
My grandma had a good point – Laura was hanging out in Asheville, talking to a bunch of Republicans about voting for Taylor, and why Charles Taylor is the bomb-diggity-man to vote for…but she was talking to the wrong group. She should have been trying to talk Democrats into voting for Mr. Taylor.
Either way, it was really cool to experience the security and the journalistic side to it all. My video of Bush is on citizen-times.com – it’s her entire speech. So, yes, it’s pretty boring. The speeches don’t change.
But, maybe one day, I will have an agent that protects me from the bad people – or just the really annoying ones.
