sewing project: the (beginning of a) diaper bag

I’ve come so far since I could only sew pillows. Or couldn’t sew it all. That said, I think I experienced a few setbacks this weekend. I cut everything out for the diaper bag last week, and high hopes of finishing it over the weekend. I ignored sewing on Saturday, and then decided to tackle the bag on Sunday afternoon.

The first thing I did was sew the two main pieces inside out. It was a little crazy since they were the first two major pieces – the exterior of the bag – and I had read the instructions so many times! That set me back a good 30-45 minutes of unstitching and then re-sewing. (Thankfully, it was just machine baste stitches, so they were a little easier to take out.)

Some of my pieces weren’t cut out to the exact sizes as the other pieces, which was mind-boggling to me, but I managed to make-do.

And then I sewed the first pocket wrong. I decided to improvise (and it worked.) But then I sewed the second pocket inside out. Seriously. What is WRONG with me?

By then it was 10:30 p.m. and this girl needed to go to bed.

My hopes are to finish it tonight, but we’ll just have to wait and see. I neglected the house in my 8ish hours of sewing (and unsewing) yesterday.
