Show Us Where You Live Friday – Dining Room
Alright. I’m on time!! Today is Show Us Where You Live Friday and you get to check out my dining room (area, really.) It’s nothing much, just separate from our kitchen, which we never had before. And we don’t have much hanging on the walls. I’m quickly realizing we live in a very neutral house. With bad lighting.
Here’s the room, looking from our living room:
I bought the table and chairs several years ago from Wood You, a store in Asheville. I stained them myself. My in-laws bought us two chairs for Christmas about two years ago, to finish out the set.
Another look from the steps (and the curtains are open.) The curtains came with the house. The previous homeowners bought them to “stage” the home. I’m glad they left them!
The only artwork we have in the room. You can see one of the entrances to the kitchen, too.
We have the small bookcase, which houses all of the cookbooks. I loveeee cookbooks. And I wasn’t much of a (good) cook in college. Most graduates get diaries or journals when they graduate. That year, I received SO MANY cookbooks! Even for Christmas, I received the same book on chicken 🙂
My ceramics teacher made the canisters as a wedding gift. I chose the canister set, and the color, and she did all of the work!! The blue matches our kitchen, which I hadn’t planned on. (Can you tell I love blue?)
Speaking of ceramics, I finished this bowl last week. Kenny wanted us to have a basket of sorts to put our cloth napkins in, and this is what I came up with. (Again, in blue.) I got on a kick with the napkins just this year. Thought it would be all earth-friendly (and pretty) and I’m so glad I did!

Finally, this is where Chloe eats her meals. The dogs also have a bowl, but I remove their food now when they aren’t at the house. Chloe tends to eat dog food, if given the chance. (I also have two random plants that don’t have a real place in the house…they ended up in this room, though.)
We really do have so much to do on the house. These photos are just reiterating that for me. Have any suggestions for our dining room? Post away!! I welcome all tips and suggestions!
