Show us where you live Friday (this week it’s Sunday) – Guest room

I’m at least a day earlier than last week with the guest room. Truth is, I wasn’t going to show my guest room until we got a call last night from a friend who was going to need to use our guest room. I spent some time cleaning today 🙂 Now it’s not so embarrassing to show it! What I am embarrassed about is the lack of curtains. We do have curtains for this room, but our heat vents are beneath the windows which means I either have to hem the curtains or buy new ones. Our walls are also awfully bare. I’m working on it. I promise.

So, here we go….

The room when we moved in:

And today….

Funny story with the bed. When we met, I had a queen sized bed frame, but full size mattresses. The husband had a full size bed frame with queen mattresses. It’s a good thing we met so we could put the beds together properly 🙂 The bedding is what I had during my single days, and the quilt at the end was made by my friend’s mom (it was my gift for helping with her wedding….very ambitious mom making all of the quilts!)

The plant stand (and the blinds are up because Chloe didn’t like them closed and tore them apart):

My old dresser. I’ve had this dresser since I can remember. I remember having it as a small child. Sitting on top is one of our wedding photos. We also have a basket that we’ve placed some books and magazines in. We’ve only had one set of guests (my in-laws) so the basket hasn’t gotten much use yet!

The nightstand was Kenny’s and there’s a photo of him and some friends from his best friend’s bachelor weekend. The boys still talk about that weekend….

These photos are waiting to be framed and they’ll hang in the room when we’re done. They were shot by a former co-worker’s husband, and they’re local. When my co-worker moved to Kazakhstan, they had to get rid of some stuff. I took the pictures off their hands!

This is the frame on the dresser:

And this is the photo I used. I actually turned the original black and white and did the color spotting on it with Photoshop. I LOVE how it turned out. This is just one of my favorite wedding photos 🙂 It was taken moments after we walked out of the chapel.

Hope you’ve enjoyed the guest room! It’s still got a long way to go, but we’re miles ahead of where we were six months ago….or even yesterday!
